The list of affirmations I began part one of this blog with are a few of my own. Notice that I started with statements of gratitude. This is important for setting up the energy of abundance within us. The neat thing about affirmations is that they are yours and yours alone. They do not have to be shared with others the way I did here. They do not have to be discussed with anyone else the way I am discussing them here with you. In fact I feel that it is best if they are not shared with anyone else.
There are two schools of thought about this however. The opposite thought is to share these with people close to you as a way to voice them aloud and garner support for your intentions. This should only be done when you have complete confidence in the support system that may exist for you through these potential confidants. Please be aware of the pitfalls and potential problems that can arise from doing this.
One reason you may want to keep them to yourself is that, what others see in your life or what others believe are true about you, may not be aligned with the things you are affirming. These affirmations will then seem false to others and as a result, other people may attempt to provide feedback to you that could be in contradiction to what you are seeking to affirm in your life. If these people are important in your life then their opinion will have a level of meaning to you that could outweigh the meaning and efficacy of the not yet realized affirmations that you are using to create the new belief set points in your life.
The last thing you need while establishing and reprogramming your belief set points, are avoidable contradictions. There will be unavoidable contradictions that exist as natural opposition and contradiction to some of the affirmations you will establish for your life. The old programming in you will point out where the reality you are living is different than some of the things you may be ‘affirming’.
The people in your life may mean no harm in their response to your affirmations but may cause you to question your efforts to reset your belief set points. Partially because they do not understand what your affirmations mean to you. Or simply, because they will not have the insight that you are gaining from me as I explain the efficacy of these tools.
To make this process much more simple and effective – A rule of thumb I recommend in developing and using affirmations is to treat them as you would your prayers and your meditations.
These are yours alone and are simply a tool for connecting your mind and heart to the fabric of your inner self. From that statement I hope you can see the connection between your inner self and the tools that you can use to bring you closer to your true self. Although there are many variations, Prayer, Meditation and Visualization are just a few practices or tools that can be used to create the life that is aligned and prosperous.
So for now let’s stick with the one tool, affirmations. You can start with this immediately. Feel free to use my sample affirmations as a guide but I strongly encourage you to develop your own affirmations that address the four main areas of your life. I believe these areas of life are incredibly important to acknowledge and care for. Again, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of starting with sincere and genuine gratitude statements.
The four areas of your life I want you to give attention to are as follows:
Relationships, health and finance are pretty straightforward and need little explanation. However let me describe to you what I mean when I say self-expression. This is what you do every day of your life. Its one of the things that gives your life meaning – to you. It could be your job, your career, using your talents day-to-day or passionate hobbies. If these things are your passion and your soul’s purpose, then I would consider these the true expression of yourself.
Let’s take Thomas Edison as an example. It is easy to see how being a scientist / inventor was a true passion for him and could easily be considered his life’s purpose. But, we don’t really know that because he is the only one that can say whether he was living his life’s purpose.
His commitment to his work and bouncing back from failure after failure would indicate a level of commitment that aligns with what we do when we are living our intended purpose.
So, spend a considerable amount of time identifying and writing down a list that you feel speaks to you in your voice about the important aspects of life that you are committed to in the four important areas of life.
What’s next?
Once you have created your list of affirmations, ask yourself if these feel like they are aligned with your higher self. If your answer is no, then take time to examine that part of your life and determine what are the things that will support your true nature of being while you’re here on this planet.
One controversial area I would like to address as you go through this process. For a number of reasons, we all have a unique relationship with money. As you do this exercise I ask that you not hold back – do not be afraid of money. We will explore this in future blogs, but for now just know that having a strong financial flow in your life, with the right intention, will assist you in accomplishing the things you were placed here to accomplish. So, let it rip. Set your intention pertaining to money and see it unfold in your mind to the degree that fulfills your dreams.
The true expression of yourself is guided by the gifts you’ve been given. Expressing those gifts are not only satisfying, fulfilling and remarkably enjoyable, but it is actually an obligation that you have.
You can consider the building of your affirmations complete as long as you have the intent to care for the four areas of your life in some way that supports your awareness of your life’s purpose. You can have four or five or 10 or 20 statements in your list of affirmations. I would suggest that you have a number of statements that you can comfortably remember.
Of course write them down and then read them to yourself preferably aloud over and over day after day again and again. Reading them daily or at minimum twice a day is important, but having them committed to memory helps tremendously in resetting your belief set points. If you do this correctly you will find that you will naturally memorize them without trying. They will become a part of your daily mantra.
When you think of areas of your life whether it be relationships, finances, self-expression or health, your mind will automatically moved to the area of affirmations that you have committed to in your subconscious. When that happens you begin to see things that you normally would not have seen. You begin to recognize things in others and in yourself associated with these areas that you would not have recognized otherwise. The mind just works that way.
This is the first step that your mind begins to leverage and utilize the belief set points that you are establishing. I use the analogy of installing software on a computer. As you begin to reaffirm, validate and insert these ideas and these truths into your subconscious mind, you are actually programming your mind and your belief system in a way that supports your success.
The truth is that this programming is happening within you every day anyway. The only difference is that the programmer is usually an external person or persons. It could be the news that you listen to every day it could be your spouse or significant other it could be your friends, your teacher, your boss other family members or relatives. In any of these cases the fact remains that these external influences over your belief set points can determine the life you live.
Now a simple question for you is which do you find more empowering? Which do you find more exciting? You don’t need to answer out loud I know what the answer is.
Reprogramming your own subconscious mind creating your own belief set points and empowering yourself as opposed to having others dictate to you what your life will be, is one of the biggest most exciting gifts you can give yourself.
With this knowledge, with this gift you are now in control of the exciting opportunities and potential that your life has in front of it. We will now begin to take steps in the direction that will lead you to accomplishing amazing things.
